On the catwalk with Cotonea fabrics – fashion dreams become reality in a collaboration with fashion designer Rebekka Ruétz...

At the Berlin Fashion Week, which ended on July 4, the organic cotton brand Cotonea enriched the new collection "Black Sun" by Rebekka Ruétz with high-quality fabrics as part of a first-ever cooperation. The designer became aware of Cotonea in autumn 2023 and has been using organic cotton fabrics produced to the highest standards ever since. The Berlin Fashion Week show is the first official cooperation between Rebekka Ruétz and Cotonea.

"Above all, we want to support young designers who want to make a difference in the industry", says Roland Stelzer, Managing Director of Cotonea. "It is important to us that brands appreciate, understand and communicate our transparent, ecological and fair way of working."

High-quality fabrics for Black Sun

In her latest collection, Rebekka Ruétz uses exquisite poplin from Cotonea in white, black and light blue. Made from the finest organic extra-long staple fibre Pima, this fabric meets the highest quality and ecological standards. Produced without synthetic resin finishing and mercerisation, it is particularly breathable and pleasant on the skin. Heavy organic cotton twill in a soft natural colour and black and white canvas are used as a contrast. Rebekka Ruétz uses the fabrics to create aesthetic and responsible fashion.

Importance of the fashion industry for Cotonea

The fashion industry is a central part of Cotonea's customer portfolio: "On the one hand, our business consists of finished goods, but the largest share is the organic cotton fabrics that we sell worldwide. Fashion and clothing play a major role in this," explains Stelzer. Parallel to Berlin Fashion Week, the traditional company showed its broad portfolio at the Première Vision in Paris. In addition to the fabrics used by Rebekka Ruétz, fashion designers will find fine organic pima-jersey, pima-fine-twill and pima-interlock, muslin in new colours, twill in various grammages as well as chambray, single jersey and pique. "We offer designers what is probably the world's largest range of genuine organic cotton fabrics and also the opportunity to develop fabrics together", summarises Roland Stelzer.
